Compost can be done by ourselves. Soil is available outside of your house or maybe near any construction site. Seed cakes are available outside in shops, and it's pretty cheap. Using fertilizers is up to one's choice. But giving additional requirements is completely up to individual interest.
This is how one needs to prepare the pot and if you are placing the pots on the terrace one has to make sure it's placed at a height, or a simple "waterproofing" of the roof is also enough. You can use any container of any shape, size, and material(plastic, mud, ceramic). Coconut shells, take-away plastic boxes, old buckets, sacs, etc., can be used. And start growing simple herbs like Fenugreek, mint, coriander, vegetables like tomato, chilies, creepers, flowering plants, etc...
Gardening contributes a lot to the environment, and it's healthy for us because we are close to nature. And it has lots of advantages. We can do this with a simple method like a hobby and initiate a change in creating a sustainable environment

What plants can you grow on your terrace or balcony?
Here's a brief description: you can grow a variety of plants. It's very healthy to eat the ones that you've grown from your hands. Starting with
Fenugreek ( methi) - soak the seeds overnight and plant them the next day.
Coriander- lightly break open the seed and plant them inside the pot immediately. One seed yields two plants, and you can see the saplings within a week or a maximum of ten days
Celery - use the top parts for the soup or to cook. And the bottom part or stalk can be planted into the pot. Within five months, you can see the healthy plant.
Mint - it's the easiest herb to grow and has a lot of medicinal values. They quickly grow, sprouting new leaves in no time. Just place the tall long stalk into the pot and it grows.
Garlic- it's a good combo with the bush Vegetables like tomato, brinjal. Its smell repels the pest. Pest will be in control. Use the largest pod, Only the top fibrous root must be planted inside the pot.
Onion - the root part which is the kitchen waste can be planted inside the pot and it takes 6 to 7 months to grow.
Other plants like tomato, chili, brinjal, capsicum, and radish can be grown too. All these plants are very easy to grow and can be maintained smoothly. If one has to start gardening, then this is the best way to start. You can also consider growing flowering plants like rose, jasmine, hibiscus, etc.
Aloe vera- is another important plant that has various medicinal and beauty benefits. You can use them on skin, hair and also consume them. It's effortless to grow. It's a succulent plant that doesn't require much watering. It can be indoor or outdoor plants and can be used for decorative purposes as well.
